Long due Post Jam Update available now!
Hey guys!
It's been almost TWO MONTHS since Ludum Dare, I know. I know... BUT - I finally have something to show you all.
Before we go into the details of the update, let me show you guys how the game did in the jam.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the rankings. For the previous jam entries graphics have been my strength - and the same applied this time as well! Although it didn't reach as far as last time, 106th is still very good in my opinon. The theme has always been secondary priority for me so it being lower was totally fine. And the rest are about the same I've had so far. I hope I can at least keep up the quality in the future as well.
Now, the update...!
There's a lot of new stuff, I'll do my best to list the major ones here:
- NEW levels. Old ones are gone, 9 new ones take their place.
- Made a little setup which lets me do more levels with ease
- NEW enemy pathing algorithm
- UPDATED scoring system, you even get a summary at the end of a level
- CHANGED scores
- UPDATED UI, for example reformed popups for legibility
- NEW hotkeys for muting audio (M for music and N for sounds)
- NEW and UPDATED enemy animations
- NEW animations and effects for the lich and phylacteries
- NEW camera shake for exploding phylacteries
- FIXED bunch of bugs
Next up from the backlog in no order:
- New enemies planned - heavy hitters, mages, ...
- Character progression - upgrade your skills and enhance the corpses with the gathered souls
- Map interactable objects
- Menu and level select
- Locales?
Hopefully I get at least some of these done before next jam. Let me know if you'd like to see something in particular.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the updated game!
